Bentley has introduced the 2020 Bentley Bentayga Speed. This more dinamic and potent modification gains speed of 190mph (306 km/h) and is claimed to be the fastest production SUV in the world. Is it really so?
The Bentayga Speed got an improved 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 motor delivering 635hp (626bhp). The torque is the same as the base car has, but its 0-62mph acceleration time is 3.9 seconds (0.2 sec less). The top speed increased to 190.1mph (306 km/h).
For comparison: the standard Bentayga develops 608hp, the Lamborghini Urus – 650hp (with V8). The Urus accelerates to 62mph in 3.6 seconds and speeds up to max 189.5 mph (305 km/h).
As far as we can see, the Bentayga Speed’s and Lamborghini Urus’s figures differ slightly. So, we cannot say with certainty that the first will take the title of the Fastest SUV On Sale from the second.
Bentley retuned the Sport mode for the Speed version, upgraded the 8-speed automatic transmission and the 48-volt Dynamic Ride system, and made the suspension more rigid.
The new modification received 22-inch 10-spoke-designed wheels, dark optics and a grille. The interior can be trimmed with Alcantara (not offered for other Bentayga versions). The Speed logo appeared on the seats and front panel.
The Bentley Bentayga Speed’s price has not been announced yet. It will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Sales start during the year.
The standard model costs from $190,000.
