The absolute leader In the niche of compact cars is the Mercedes-Benz CLA this year, and the demand for the model is growing rapidly (36% compared to the same period in 2017). The Audi A3 is the second, the BMW 2-Series is the third.
In the mid-size premium segment, car sales in the US are also growing. Here, the bestseller is the BMW 3-Series. The model is slightly ahead of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, but a change of generations will happen soon, so the forecast for the most purchased BMW model is optimistic. The third position is taken by the Infiniti Q50.
Premium business class is currently headed by the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The BMW 5-Series noticeably inferior to it, although the demand for the 5-Series in the US is growing rapidly. The Lexus ES is the third.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class leads in the class of limousines. The model is almost twice ahead its nearest pursuer, the Cadillac CT6. The Porsche Panamera takes the third place. The demand for it in the US has doubled after the new-generation model entered the market.
It is interesting that in our list there is only one model of the American brand. But Mr. Trump intends to increase customs tariffs for cars from the EU and produce their own. As we see, the leaders of the premium segment are mainly German cars so far.
