What We Expect From the 2024 Honda Pilot

The Honda Pilot is set to have a comprehensive redesign for the 2024 model year, and its prototypes have been already spotted by car paparazzi.

The current, third-generation Honda Pilot has been on sale since June 2015. The Honda Pilot Facelift arrived as the 2019 model, while for the 2017 and 2020-22 model years the SUV received minor changes across trim levels, Ford Authority informs.

Now it’s right the time for a generation change. Sales of the outdated Honda Pilot dropped, and they are far behind competitors – only 23,989 units in the first quarter of 2022, almost 24% less than a year earlier. It is clear that the model needs fresh breath.

Ford sold 42,736 Explorers, and Toyota sold 66,026 Highlanders from January to March 2022 by comparison to the Pilot. Q2 sales results coming soon, let’s see which they will be.

Expect the next-gen Honda Pilot to have a more upright and squared-off appearance unified with the Ridgeline and Passport, and to move to a new platform shared with the Acura MDX.

In the cabin, it should have the newest techs Honda applies to its latest models. We expect the next Pilot will get a more user-friendly infotainment system and more new Honda Sensing features, as the current model’s safety score is below average for the class, and its infotainment system is a bit frustrating to use.

While keeping a familiar silhouette, the exterior should be significantly revamped including a new grille, headlamps, and taillights.

We are not sure about the engine – if it will be the same 3.5-liter 6-cylinder making 280 hp or its upgraded variant. A plug-in hybrid powertrain, like the one powering the current Honda Accord Hybrid model, is possible too.
