The New York International Auto Show 2022 will be held from April 14 to 24, 2022 after a two-year break due to the coronavirus.
The American public and foreign guests will have the opportunity to see the newly presented vehicles of various classes next month at the New York International Auto Show, test-drive electric cars on a track, gain experience in after-market service, and visit the micro-mobility zone.
Among the models on display expect to see the Austrian manufacturer’s Deus hypercar, the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup; the Mercedes-Benz EQS, Nissan Ariya, Toyota bZ4X electric crossovers; the Nissan Z sports car, the Vinfast VF 8 and VF 9 sports crossovers; the Subaru WRX performance car, and the Volkswagen ID. Buzz electric minibus. The dominance of electric vehicles is obvious.
Now a few words about individual models.
Ford F-150 Lightning
The electric version of North America’s best-seller features 563 horsepower, 775 pound-feet of torque (1051 Nm), all-wheel drive, two battery options (standard and extended range).
The F-150 Lightning accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4-5 seconds. It is able to cover from 230 to 320 miles (from 370 to 515 km) according to the EPA test depending on the configuration. By the way, in the USA the first deliveries of a pickup to customers just begin.
The manufacturer has returned the Subaru WRX to the market for the 2022 model year. The sports car has received a new platform, significant chassis upgrade, a thoroughly revised interior, a 2.4-liter turbocharged Boxer engine that produces 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet in combination with all-wheel drive, a six-speed manual gearbox, or a new automatic Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT).
The company’s first production battery electric vehicle will be on display before the upcoming launch. The model is equipped with a new bespoke four-wheel-drive system to provide outstanding off-road capabilities.
A single-motor, front-wheel drive, 201-hp version is also available with 460 km (286 miles) or range. The all-wheel-drive bZ4X has two engines with a total output of 215 hp and a driving range up to 500 km (311 mi).
0-62 mph acceleration takes 7.7 (AWD) and 8.4 seconds (FWD). The maximum speed reaches 99 mph or 160 km/h. The capacity of the lithium-ion battery is 71.4-kWh.
The Toyota bZ4X’s public debut took place at the Los Angeles Motor Show last year. Toyota promises up to 400 km (250 miles) of range for the U.S.-spec entry-level bZ4X.
The new Nissan Z is designed for the United States and is unlikely to be sold in Europe due to strict emissions regulations. The famous sports car this time received a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine, also used in the Infiniti Q60 coupe, with a torque of 350 lb-ft or 475 Nm at 5600 rpm – 30 percent more than the previous model.
The Z (pictured above) will hit the US market this year, and a version for Japan, called Fairlady Z, will be introduced in the coming months.
Nissan’s second electric car is a direct competitor to the Volkswagen ID.4. It has a range of 311 miles (500 km) on a single charge and a variant with an output of 389 horsepower.
The crossover received a Nissan e-4orce all-wheel-drive system that is a “spiritual descendant” of the system used in the Nissan GT-R.
