What New Will the Refreshed 2022 Lincoln Navigator Bring?

Spy shots of testing of the revamped Lincoln Navigator flagship have repeatedly emerged on the Internet.

Recently a nearly commercial version was seen in Dearborn, Michigan. However, it is still unclear what the 2022 Navigator is bringing. The SUV, we recall, undergoes the mid-cycle refresh of the fourth generation.

The dense camouflage still hides prototypes of the 2022 Navigator, and when it will be removed, expect to see significant interior and exterior changes.

If you want to know which ones, look at the latest Lincoln Nautilus. The company unveiled it in 2020, and the vehicle represents the brand’s modern design code. It is possible the next Navigator will borrow some elements from the Lincoln Zephyr Reflection Concept.

As for the interior, the main innovation we await is a larger central touchscreen and expanded functionality of infotainment systems.

For a modern premium SUV, a multimedia display should have a diagonal of at least 12.5 inches. The current Navigator can boast only 10 inches.

The greatest expectations are for the engine. Of course, the existing 3.5-liter EcoBoost will remain. Perhaps, a twin-turbo V6 will be more powerful. The most interesting thing is Ford’s 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid powertrain.

It is currently used in the Ford F-150 pickups and comprises the aforementioned 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, a 41 hp electric motor, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The total output is 420 hp. The hybrid Navigator’s power output is still unknown.

The combined fuel consumption of an all-wheel-drive EcoBoost pickup is 20 mpg, and 24 mpg with PowerBoost.

The 2022 Lincoln Navigator should debut this summer and go on sale in the second half of 2021.
