The second-generation Audi Q7 was introduced in 2015. In the middle of the life cycle of the flagship crossover’s current version, the automaker makes a planned update. What is new?
There is little information yet. Pre-production prototypes have been seen during winter tests on snowy roads. In addition to the base Q7, Audi is also testing an updated version of the hot SQ7.
Spy photos show a new grille of the same design as the later Q8 coupe-like crossover. Camouflage in front, rear and beneath on sides demonstrates cosmetic changes.
The cabin is also influenced by the Audi Q8, at least some interior elements.
A mild-hybrid powertrain should be added. It is popular today. We are talking about a powerful starter-generator, which saves fuel and inhance torque during acceleration. The whole system is powered from voltage of not 12 volts, as usual, but 48 V.
The date of premiere of the 2020 Audi Q7 is not reported, but it will definitely happen next year.
