The Hyundai Kona Electric compact SUV, which recently entered the market, generally found popularity among motorists.
This is undoubtedly a good vehicle with a considerable number of advantages. However, there are also some disadvantages, which car owners of North America shared with the “green” magazine InsideEVs.
The Hyundai Kona Electric model has collected a small number of negative feedback from car owners. They are not fatal, and for most are not the obstacles for purchasing, but it is useful to know about them.
Interestingly, the complaints are not related to charging the electric vehicle away from home. In other words, all is well with the ability to charge the all-electric Kona at DC fast-charging stations.
What do drivers dislike about the Hyundai Kona Electric?
Most complaints received concern the navigation system, namely, the maps. Owners would like them to be updated more often, and the information about new charging points would appear on time.
There are also complaints about the factory Nexan tires. Some chose to change them to quieter, safer, and more efficient ones, as they believe, such as the Nokian WRG4.
Another problem mentioned by the Hyundai Kona Electric owners is the infotainment screen. Every time a car starts, a warning to drive safely and follow traffic rules appears. It is annoying and certainly will not prevent an accident.
One driver even offered to make the message less trivial, for example: “Hi, glad to see you again, all systems are functional, let’s go, have some fun.”
The location of some buttons and switches has also been the subject of few complaints. In particular, the buttons for traction control, Head-Up Display on the dash to the left of the steering wheel are not immediately noticeable in this place.
Some owners are unhappy with the configuration of the gear selector buttons.
Finally, the dead pedal (the footboard to the left of the brake pedal) is narrower than it should be, which creates inconvenience for placing the legs.
All the disadvantages mentioned seem to be insignificant for most drivers, especially in comparison with indisputable advantages: a decent driving range, an excellent exterior, hi-tech features (HUD is good for beginners, for example).
