What Are the Subaru Legacy Updates For the 2023 Model Year?

The Subaru Legacy midsize sedan has been refreshed for the next model year. What is new? Let’s find out.

The Japanese automaker has unveiled the 2023 Subaru Legacy. The car has got visual and technological updates.

Look

On the exterior side, it now comes with a new front fascia that incorporates a more prominent grille and revamped LED headlamps.

Technologies

On the driver-assistance side, the 2023 Legacy receives the latest-generation EyeSight Driver Assist technology for all equipment levels. The system operates in a smoother way and under a greater range of conditions thanks to updates in control software, adding an electric brake booster and a wider field of view.

The car also utilizes the latest version of the multimedia system – Subaru Starlink 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus offering standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with a full-screen display, improved on-screen controls for audio, vehicle functions, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning).

One more new feature for the 2023MY is an advanced location technology W3W (what3words) which the navigation system integrates. W3W helps communicate precise locations by using only three simple words.

Changes within trim levels

The Touring XT trim gets a new Wide-Angle Mono Camera to make the field of view of the EyeSight system better: pedestrians and bicycles are now sooner recognizable when the vehicle enters an intersection at low speed; EyeSight alerts and applies brakes when necessary.

The Sport trim is now available with a more powerful 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine as standard.

Also, Subaru adds the Automatic Emergency Steering feature to models equipped with Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Such a combination helps avoid a collision with an obstacle at speeds below 50 mph.

Moreover, the All-Weather Package on the Legacy Sport now comes with a new 360-degree heated steering wheel.

Production, sales

The manufacturer produces the Legacy at its SIA facility (Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette). Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Touring XT trim levels are available for the new 2023 model. Sales at dealers will begin in the fall of 2022.
