Want a Chevrolet Corvette Z06, but Can’t Afford It?

The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a cool sports car but more expensive than expected. So, few people can afford this car, albeit there are cheaper alternatives.

When the carmaker revealed pricing for the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, it turned out to be too high and disappointed many Corvette enthusiasts. The fully loaded Z06 with options approaches $160K and encroaches on the territory of the Porsche 911 GT3 which starts at $162,450.

Well, the base Corvette Z06 1LZ costs $106,395: it is nearly $25,000 more than the predecessor. The convertible is $7,000–$7,500 extra. Also, you can add the Z07 package for $8,995 and carbon fiber wheels for $11,995.

If the love for sports cars is strong, and the budget is not unlimited, you can consider cheaper options, although none of them can really replace the Corvette.

To start with, you can just buy the previous generation C7 Corvette Z06, which is also very good, if you don’t have enough money for a new C8 model. Or select one of the models below.

Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0

The model could be considered as a less powerful, slower, not-so-wild alternative to the Z06. It costs from $90,300 before all fees, charges, and options. Like the Z06, the Porsche car has a mid-engine layout.

Under the hood, the Cayman GTS 4.0 has a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine delivering 394 hp and 309 pound-feet of torque in pair with a dual-clutch transmission. It needs 3.8 seconds to speed up from a standstill to 60 mph.

2016-21 BMW M2

Priced around $70,000 (the older the cheaper), this agile car has a more reserved coupe body allowing for a back seat and an acceptable cargo compartment.

Customers can benefit from a manual transmission, rear-wheel drive, and a nice 3.0-liter twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine – albeit not as potent as the Corvette Z06’s incredible 670-hp V8.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

We couldn’t help mentioning this car. The Ford model is not a direct rival to Chevy’s beast, and it is not able to surpass the Z06 in a number of respects. But the Shelby GT500’s 5.2-liter 760-hp supercharged V8 is more powerful, and with the price of $79,420, the GT500 is around $25,000 cheaper than the Z06.

2013-17 Dodge Viper

Naturally, the new Corvette Z06 is newer and better, but the Viper, even outdated and with excessive fuel consumption, is still a respectable choice for lovers of sports driving. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds.

Furthermore, with a price of $92,000, it is about $13,000 cheaper. The final-model-year Viper came with an 8.4-liter V10 engine that produced 645 hp and 600 lb-ft in combination with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a rear-wheel-drive system.

Such useful features as driver-adjustable dampers or Brembo brakes are among the Dodge Viper’s ‘goodies ‘.

2017-21 Jaguar F-Type R/SVR

The current Jaguar F-Type R packs 567 horsepower from a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 and costs $108,500. If you have in the region of $90,000, you can purchase a used F-Type R or SVR, and it still will be $15,000 less than a new Vette Z06.

You’ll get a beautiful premium coupe with an upscale cabin, a spacious trunk, well-balanced handling, fast steering and acceleration (3.5 sec), but a bit harsh ride.
