Volvo Experiences Strong Early Consumer Demand for its 1st Electric Car

Volvo Cars has opened order books for the XC40 Recharge P8 AWD in selected markets.

Several thousand orders have been already placed. Production and deliveries will start later this year. The first fully electric Volvo vehicle is in high demand.

According to the plan, half Volvo sales will be all-electric cars by 2025, with the rest half to be hybrids.

Sales of Volvo’s plug-in hybrid vehicles steadily grow. During the 4th quarter of 2019, plug-in hybrids comprised more than 20% of the overall European sales of the brand.

There is also a strong growth in terms of online customer configurations for Recharge cars: 1/3 of all configurations in the region in October-December 2019.

The XC40 Recharge P8 is the first from a new EV family and the first Volvo with a brand new Android-powered infotainment system with high levels of intuitiveness and personalization, Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play Store services.

The XC40 Recharge P8 sits on the advanced Compact Modular Architecture (CMA).

The all-wheel drive car offers over 400 km (249 miles) of range (WLTP) and delivers 408 hp. It takes 40 min to fast charge the battery to 80%.

Volvo engineers built the XC40 Recharge P8 on the excellent safety standards of the original XC40.

Inside, the company applied an innovative approach to all-round functionality, meaning plenty of storage space.
