Without waiting for the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March, Volkswagen has published official photos of all models from the refreshed Passat family. The automaker also reported some technical details about the updates.
The 2020 Volkswagen Passat many times came into the view of automotive paparazzi. Camouflage covered test vehicles, and, as expected, the changes occurred primarily in the exterior. However, it is difficult to call them significant.
New bumpers, a different grille, LED optics as standard, as wells as newly designed wheels, additional body colors are, perhaps, the main changes. VW also added a quasi-autopilot, an intelligent cruise control, a new MIB3 infotainment system.
The motors remain the same: a 1.5 TSI Evo (150 hp) and a1.6 TDI (120 hp).
Mild-hybrid system is not expected for restyling stage, as it requires more serious structural changes. Thus, a 48-volt electrical system will be added already for the model of the next ninth generation.
