The Volkwagen ID. Crozz show car evolves into a production version to be launched this year – the ID.4. The company has published few images of the upcoming vehicle.
The model boasts outstanding aerodynamics, reduced drag coefficient and efficiency allowing long ranges up to 500 km (311 miles). The SUV is the second Volkswagen vehicle after the ID.3 hatchback that rides on the electric modular platform (MEB).
The high-voltage battery takes the place near the center of the underbody for a low center of gravity. Initially VW offers a rear-wheel drive car, joined latter by an electric all-wheel drive modification.
The interior is spacious due to electric drive technology. It accommodates an all-digital cockpit with touch surfaces and intelligent, intuitive voice control.
Volkswagen strives to become entirely carbon-neutral by 2050. By 2025, the company will reduce carbon dioxide emissions in one third of its fleet. The German manufacturer invests in electrification and ramps up hybrid offerings adding plug-in and mild-hybrid variants.
The Volkswagen ID.4 will be a global model. The carmaker will build and sell it in Europe, China, the USA.
