Photos of the Volkswagen ID.6 X have been posted this week on the website of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The ID.6 X model for seven passengers is based on the 2019 Volkswagen ID Roomzz Concept shown at the Shanghai Auto Show.
SAIC-Volkswagen joint venture got approval to build and sell that flagship large EV SUV in China, Automotive News China reports.
Back in 2019, after the ID Roomzz Concept unveiling, Volkswagen’s top managers said that the company planned to introduce the vehicle (in its production form) not only in China, but in other markets.
We’ll hardly meet the model in Europe, as it is too large for that market, but sales in the USA are quite possible.
The plant in Shanghai will be a production site for the Volkswagen ID.6 X. Volkswagen Group has been already making two smaller electric vehicles at joint ventures in China – the ID.4 Crozz and the ID.4 X.
VW’s new $800 million assembly factory in Tennessee will also produce EVs.
