Volkswagen of America has announced its changes for the 2022 model year across the entire lineup.
The brand’s Digital Cockpit is now standard for most 2022 models. The IQ.DRIVE driver assistance tech is available for all – either standard or optional. Earlier this year, a new member joined the Volkswagen family – the Taos SUV.
For 2022 MY, the eighth-generation Golf GTI and Golf R become more powerful and better handled. They also receive an all-new electronic architecture that enables a standard 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro, touch interfaces, 30-color ambient lighting. A head-up display is available.
Besides, Volkswagen refreshes the styling and equipment of the Tiguan, Jetta, Jetta GLI.
The VW Arteon gets a new, more powerful 2.0-liter TSI engine that delivers 300 hp and 295 lb-ft in pair with a 7-speed DSG transmission with Tiptronic – a replacement to the previous 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The best-selling Volkswagen models in the United States are the Tiguan (37,887 units in Q2 2021), Atlas (24,851 units) and Atlas Sport (14,526 units), Jetta (13,442 sales). The Arteon lags behind – 1,682 cars. The all-new Taos boasts 4,960 sales in the 2nd quarter of the year.
