The Volkswagen Tiguan will have a performance R modification. The prototype was already tested on the Nürburgring race track in Germany. Now the crossover is being run in on public roads.
The hot Tiguan looks like a car ready for production. Its official premiere will most likely take place in half a year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
New spy shots of the Volkswagen Tiguan R, by chance or not, appeared shortly after the debut of the hot version T-Roc R. The latter was presented as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show in early March.
It is worth noting that full-fledged high-performance modifications of standard models, as a rule, are developed practically from scratch. Their creation takes quite a lot of time and resources.
The German maker has been working on the Tiguan R for a long time. So, in Frankfurt we will see, apparently, not a concept, but already its version for sale.
The question remains: what is the Tiguan R’s engine power? It is clear that the crossover will receive a 2.0 TSI twin-turbo four already used on the Golf R and on the above-mentioned T-Roc R. The motor produces up to 300hp in these vehicles. The Tiguan is bigger and heavier than the both. Will this power be enough?
