The U.S. market will get the BMW iX xDrive50 electric crossover. Order books open this June. Customer deliveries should begin in early 2022.

As the crossover’s name suggests, it comes with a standard all-wheel drive and 500 horsepower from the dual-motor electric powertrain. The capacity of the vehicle’s battery pack is more than 100.0 kWh.

Acceleration from a standstill to 62 mph is claimed to take less than 5.0 seconds. The top speed is 124 miles per hour.

The manufacturer estimates a total driving range of 300 miles. To add 75 miles to the range, you’ll need to charge a BMW iX xDrive50 within 10 minutes with a DC fast-charger.

This model is one of two new electric vehicles BMW plans to launch soon in North America (the other is the BMW i4 hatchback). Expect the starting price will be in the mid-$80,000 range.
