A manual gearbox option is expected to be available on the Toyota Supra of the 2022 model year. A hardcore performance GRMN model should arrive in 2023.
This news has come from a Japan source Mag X. To maintain interest in the model, Toyota will reportedly make annual updates.
Numerous customers ask for a stick shift. So, to fulfill their wishes, the company is readying to add a three-pedal setup to the Supra.
It is still unclear when exactly the manual transmission arrives. It will hardly be on the 2021 Supra, most likely – on the 2022 model.
As for the Toyota Supra GRMN, it may be powered by a twin-turbo inline-six engine taken from the BMW M3 and M4 with around 510 hp/380 kW, or a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six making 395 hp (294 kW), as rumored.
Toyota will use increased carbon fiber for this hotter version of the Supra to lower weight. The Supra GRMN will likely come in a couple of years (in 2023) as a limited-run model.
