Toyota Sequoia Changes Generation in 2022: What to Expect?

The next-generation Toyota Sequoia debuts this year at last, after more than 10 years of the current generation on the market. It borrows much from the new Tundra pickup.

Yesterday Toyota released the first, shadowy image of the new Sequoia full-size SUV, more precisely, a fragment of the right rear with a thin taillight, chrome window trim, wheels, door handles.

Expect the full-size SUV to arrive by the end of 2022 as a replacement to the Land Cruiser in the brand’s lineup for the USA. Its premiere is around the corner, what will the new-generation model bring?

Let’s recall what we’ve already known about the upcoming Sequoia:

  • The next Sequoia will ride on the company’s new TNGA-F body-on-frame platform, the same as underpins the global Toyota Land Cruiser and the new Tundra
  • The engine choices will likely be a twin-turbo V6 with 348 hp and 405 lb-ft or 389 hp and 479 lb-ft, and an iForce MAX twin-turbo 437-hp V6 hybrid system
  • The vehicle will have an independent rear suspension as before
  • In the cabin, it will use a big 14.0-inch touchscreen and digital gauge cluster inherited from the Toyota Tundra
  • The SUV will offer TRD packages including a TRD Pro variant

UPDATE of Jan. 20: The world premiere of the new-generation Toyota Sequoia will take place on January 25 at 9:30 p.m. EST / January 26, 3 a.m. CET.
