Toyota RAV4 Prime’s EPA Range and Efficiency Rates Make It the Top PHEV

EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) has released its numbers for the all-new Toyota RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid.

Its all-electric range and energy efficiency scores are very good, and let the model be the top PHEV in the mainstream segment.

2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime EPA rating is as follows:

  • 42 mi (68 km) all-electric
  • 600 mi (965 km) total

Energy Consumption (charging losses inclusive):

  • 94 MPGe – 359 Wh/mi (223 Wh/km) EV mode
  • 38 mpg (6.19 l/100 km) hybrid mode

For comparison: the plug-in hybrid Ford Escape has a shorter range (by 5 miles in EV mode and by 70 miles total), but higher efficiency (by 22 Wh/mile in EV and by 3 mpg in hybrid mode).
