Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) reported August 2019 sales. The Toyota RAV4 is the ‘market queen’.
Overall sales (Toyota + Lexus, all segments) in North America increased by almost 14% last month and totaled 164,569 vehicles.
1,017,370 units were sold in total for 8 months of the year (+2%).
The Toyota Sequoia demonstrated the best growth compared with August 2018: +43%. The Yaris dropped the most: -63.7%.
Among SUVs the sales leaders are the Toyota RAV4 (49,481 units), the Highlander (28,364 units) and the 4Runner (13,258 units).
In the pickup truck segment the Toyota Tacoma dominates (27,010 units), it is more than twice ahead of the Tundra (12,427 units).
Among the Lexus trucks the most preferred is the RX (11,700 units), followed by the NX (5,138 units).
Sales of hybrid Toyota and Lexus models considerably grew: +65% in August (totaled 33,770 units) and +18.7% calendar year to date (170,915 vehicles).
Last month, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and the Lexus ES Hybrid sales grew by impressive 174,4% and 130%, respectively. At the same time, the Lexus GS Hybrid sales dropped by 100%.
13,881 hybrid RAV4s were sold, the best result in the segment in August.
