Toyota Officially Introduced New Corolla Sedan

The new 2020 Toyota Corolla Sedan at last premiered the other day at the Auto Guangzhou 2018 in China. It underwent significant changes.

Within the whole year Toyota has presented new vehicles from the Corolla family. The latest is the new sedan shown in Guangzhou. The newcomer, like the Avalon, C-HR and Camry, is built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA).

The platform made it possible to slightly increase the track, retaining the old wheelbase. The new sedan is a bit larger than its predecessor. Toyota engineers made the cabin quieter, improve handling  by means of replacing the rear beam with the multi-link suspension.

The exterior and interior design have much in common with the Corolla hatchback and wagon presented before. The L, LE and XLE trim levels are more conservative than the sports SE and XSE with LED headlights and 18-inch wheels.

A new 2.0-liter 169-hp motor is provided for the SE and XSE versions, combined with a variator with fixed first gear. The gearbox in sports mode is able to simulate a 10-speed manual transmission.

The rest variants of the new Toyota Corolla are equipped with a 1.8-liter 140-hp petrol engine, which is a modified version of the current model’s unit.

The SE configuration will be the only one for which you can order a six-speed manual gearbox. The adaptive cruise control and Lane Keep Assist are available only for the versions with CVT.

The 12th-generation Toyota Corolla’s equipment includes collision avoidance systems with automatic braking, high-beam assist, lane departure warning, a touchscreen multimedia that supports Apple CarPlay and a Wi-Fi access point. In the XSE and XLE versions, there will be the JBL acoustics.

Interior features a 4.2-inch display in standard, as well as a 7-inch one for higher-level versions. The console is ergonomic. Moreover, Toyota promises improved visibility from the driver’s seat due to the lower window line, thinner A-pillars and better-placed side-view mirrors.

The new Toyota Corolla will go on sale in early 2019. The 2019 Toyota Corolla currently costs from $18,700 in the USA and from €21,520 in Germany.
