Recently Toyota has unveiled a new small crossover called the Corolla Cross.

This styling-wise model debuted in Thailand and goes on sale here this year. Expect it on other markets too.

It is not still officially confirmed for the USA, but we know the carmaker has trademarked the Corolla Cross name in America.

By dimensions, the newcomer is between the Toyota C-HR (has the same wheelbase, but some inches wider, longer, taller) and the RAV4. Moreover, it is a hybrid vehicle.

The global version got the powertrain as the U.S.-spec base Toyota Corolla Sedan and the C-HR, namely a 1.8-liter 140-hp (104 kW) inline-four with 129 lb-ft of torque in conjunction with FWD and CVT.

The hybrid version of the Toyota Corolla Cross is powered by a 1.8-liter 98-hp (73 kW/105 lb-ft) engine in pair with a 600V electric motor making 72 hp/54 kW/120 lb-ft, like the hybrid Corolla sedan.

The total output is 121 hp, Toyota’s electronic-continuous variable transmission is used here.
