Toyota Compact Pickup May Arrive in 2023 to Fight Against Ford Maverick

Toyota small truck

A Toyota compact pickup aimed at the Ford Maverick is in the pipeline.

We are accustomed to the fact that America is basically associated with large pickup trucks, but the Ford Maverick has proved a small pickup has a chance in this market.

Inspired by the Maverick’s great success, Toyota considers launching its own compact pickup sitting below the Tacoma.

The Maverick has been poaching customers from other brands: 60% of its buyers came from outside Ford. As for Toyota – it loses customers of the RAV4 in favor of the Ford Maverick. So, the Japanese company decided to build a competitor to Blue Oval’s small truck.

What It Will Be

Toyota’s new small pickup will have a hybrid option, as efficient as the Maverick’s 40 miles per gallon, and equally affordable.

A starting price may be in the low $20K range. The new product will possibly land next year as a 2024 model.

The Toyota compact pickup will ride on the company’s TNGA-K platform shared with the Camry, RAV4, and others.

The Ford Maverick is currently dominating the hybrid compact pickup truck market. Given the legendary reliability of Toyota vehicles, no doubt the new small hybrid pickup of the brand will be in strong demand.
