The carmaker developed the GR Yaris using World Rally Championship-winning experience. It cannot be considered a simple modification of the existing car. This is an authentic sports model with a bespoke chassis and drivetrain.
All in the vehicle is oriented to performance: its lightweight construction, a new GR-Four intelligent all-wheel drive system, dynamic balance.
Under the hood, there is a new 1.6-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine delivering 262 hp (257 bhp) and enabling a sprint from zero to 62 mph in less than 5.5 seconds.
The company will announce specs and details later on. Meanwhile, customers can sign up for Toyota’s “keep me informed” service from this week via their local Toyota center or the official website.
First EU deliveries will start from November 2020. The Toyota GR Yaris will not be on sale in America. Instead, Americans will have a possible alternative – the GR Corolla.
