The 2020 Toyota 4Runner got several upgrades.
The model adds fresh exterior, multimedia and for-comfort features and a new safety pack.
The Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) driver assists suite comes standard now for all trim levels. It includes Automatic High Beams, Lane Departure Alert with Sway Warning System, High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection.
Toyota’s Star Safety System is also standard. It includes the newest functions to improve stability, traction and braking.
The 2020 Toyota 4Runner is the most capable and comfortable ever. A new designed instrument panel debuts in it, along with a high-resolution 8-inch touchscreen display for the Audio, Audio Plus and Premium Audio systems.
Toyota adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa compatibility. Rear passengers receive two additional USB ports.
The Smart Key with Push Button Start function is now available for the SR5 Premium, TRD Pro, TRD Off-Road Premium trims.
The 2020 4Runner TRD Pro gets new TRD-branded exhausts, revised HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) controls, a new Army Green exterior color.
The Nightshade Special Edition (an exterior package) can be a choice for the range-topping Limited model. This version is the only one with chrome-plated exterior inserts, 20-inch machine-finished wheels and P245/60R20 tires.
Design of the grille slightly changed. Depending on a trim level (SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Pro, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium), vehicles are distinguished by wheel and bumper designs.
Under the hood
The Toyota 4Runner offers 2WD, part- and full-time multi-mode 4WD choices. All four-wheel-drive versions have a 9.6 inch ground clearance. A spare tire comes with all modifications.
A 270-hp (199 kW) 4.0-liter V6 engine powers the model. The peak torque is 278 lb-ft (377 Nm). It is optimized by the Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) system.
The transmission is a smooth-to-shift 5-speed ECT-i automatic one. All 4Runner vehicles can tow up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg).
Toyota also made some suspension upgrades.
The two-wheel-drive models feature standard Automatic Limited Slip Differential. The available part-time 4WD system uses Active Traction Control. The full-time 4WD of the 4Runner Limited utilizes a Torsen center differential.
All 4Runner TRD cars receive an electronic-locking rear differential and Toyota’s Crawl Control.
The 2020 model price starts from $36,020 (including delivery, processing and handling fee) in the USA.
