According to the sales results in the first half of 2020, Fiat’s Panda and 500 were the most popular A-segment representatives on the European continent.
Although demand for vehicles in Europe has dropped markedly due to the pandemic, the continent’s market remains one of the largest on the planet.
In the city car class, the Italian Fiat Panda and Fiat 500 have been the sales leaders for many years, mainly due to the high popularity of models in Italy itself.
The Toyota Aygo also entered the TOP 3 of city car bestsellers with more than 36,000 sales. The Renault Twingo is not far behind – 34,000 cars.
The fifth in Europe was the Volkswagen Up!. 23,000 buyers chose this smallest Volkswagen.
As for the lower half of the TOP 10 ranking, it included the Kia Picanto (22,500 units), Hyundai i10 (21,300 units), Peugeot 108 (20,700 units), Citroen C1 (19,300 units) and the Mitsubishi Mirage (19,100 units.
Suzuki Ignis was sold well in Europe – 14,500 cars. Its “relatives”,the Skoda Citigo and the SEAT Mii, could boast 5,000 and 2,000 sales, respectively.
Although Smart cars took the 13th and 15th places in the market, they noticeably lost their customers. 4,614 people bought the Smart Fortwo, and 1,810 ones the Smart Forfour.
