The new-generation 2020 Ford Kuga debuted in early April 2019. Almost simultaneously the next Ford Escape was introduced, which is the adjacent model for the North American market.
The new Kuga is significantly different from its predecessor, not only externally. The main innovations are the platform, technologies and electrification.
The 2020 Ford Kuga is the first SUV based on the new C2 global architecture. The third-generation Ford Kuga’s body is 10% torsionally stiffer. Its weight decreased by 90kg (198lb).
The list of technologies includes a built-in FordPass Connect modem, a digital instrument panel (12.3 inches), wireless smartphone charging, a SYNC 3 multimedia system and a premium B & O Sound System.
Electrification is the third, most significant feature. The 2020 Ford Kuga has mild-hybrid, fully hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The PHEV’s electric driving range is more than 50km (31 miles), the estimated fuel consumption is 1.2 l/100km (196MPG).
It’s worth mentioning a new Stop & Go function, Speed Sign Recognition and Lane-Centring, Active Park Assist 2, a projection display, cornering lights and light adjustments for traffic signs.
