The updated Ford Mondeo in a wagon body-style was catched by spies’ cameras during road tests in Europe. It will go on sale in the autumn of 2018.
It seems to be the prototype of Titanium trim level, but missing LED headlights, disguised a bit in front and rear. So, updates will be minimal. Some changes are expected in the cabin, but we still don’t know which.
The most significant modifications have occurred in the technical part. It’s about a new 8-speed automatic transmission to replace the previous 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Besides, the engines will be upgraded – become more powerful and economical.
For the European market the refreshed Mondeo will be offered with a diesel motor (maybe a new 2.0 liter EcoBlue). Ford in Europe is not going to abandon diesel units.
The model will also get an advanced Co-Pilot 360 driver assist. It will include automatic emergency braking, blind zones control, lane departure warning. This system has been already used on the new Ford Fusion.
As for the new-generation Ford Mondeo, it will be developed, contrary to some media reports. It will share the platform with the new Ford Focus.
