The Toyota Camry Returns To Europe

Toyota decided to return its Camry sedan to Europe, which the model left in 2004 due to low demand. It will replace the Toyota Avensis. Sales start in the first quarter of next year.

The car will be offered in a hybrid version – with a 2.5-liter petrol engine and an electric motor. In addition to the Toyota Camry, the Japanese automaker sells seven other models with a hybrid powertrains in the European market.

Toyota will supply cars for Europe from Japan. If it is the same Camry as for the markets of the US and Japan, it will be equipped with CVT and develop 175 hp.

The Toyota Camry is available in more than 100 countries. Since its launch in 1982, more than 19 million vehicles have been sold.

The 2018 model is built on the TNGA platform and is the most sporty in the Camry lineup, markedly improved compared to the previous generation.

Despite the drop in demand for sedans the Toyota Camry remains popular in many markets. For example, in the USA, it took second place among the models of the brand in 2017 (the RAV4 SUV was the first).
