Following the petrol versions, the Hyundai Kona with a diesel engine will soon arrive in the European market. This is a 1.6-liter unit with two power options. The price of diesel Hyundai Kona starts from $26,000.
In the UK the most compact crossover of the Korean brand with the heavy-fuel engine will cost from £19,750. The diesel version’s price is at least $2,000 more than a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol model’s.
The diesel Kona is equipped with a new 1.6-liter 115-hp (280 Nm) and 135 hp (320 nm) engine. In any case, the torque is transmitted only to the front wheels (the Kona, generally speaking,is the front-wheel drive car).
The ‘younger’ diesel engine is mated only with a manual 6-speed transmission, the 134-hp one – only with a 7-speed dual-disk automatics.
The diesel Kona complies with the latest Euro 6d TEMP standards. AdBlue exhaust filter system, NOx filter, and a standard particulate filter help to ensure low emissions of harmful gases – 111 and 114 g/km for each version, respectively.
