The authoritative British magazine Auto Express has published a list of the TOP 10 MPVs that can be bought this year. Journalists note that this segment of the car market, although not the most glamorous, is still vital for those families who can afford a single car. At the same time, it can take everyone in comfort along with a lot of luggage, which often accompany family life.
A multipurpose vehicle or MPV as a new class of cars emerged in the mid-eighties when an incredibly square Renault Espace entered the European market, and overseas sales of the Chrysler / Plymouth Voyager started. Both models featured a combination of exquisite, comfortable interior with a square shape of the van – very roomy and versatile cars.
Modern minivans have become more elegant and stylish externally and have grown in size. Now also sub-series in the MPV class appeared – compact vans. A good example is the Renault Scenic.
Moreover, the market for carriers based on delivery vans has significantly changed. These models are no longer passenger versions of cargo vans with attached seats. In terms of comfort and equipment, modern carriers may well compete with MPVs. At the same time, there is even more space in them.
Today, the MPV segment is under the pressure of SUVs, as these more robust models provide almost the same space and practicality in a more elegant SUV’s body. Nevertheless, from the point of view of pure practicality, SUVs still can’t compete with the best minivans and carriers.
The TOP 10 MPVs. that are currently on sale, are defined taking into account the versatility that family buyers need, as well as reasonable operating costs.
