The Models Are Listed Whose Diesel Versions Will Be Killed

Goaded by Dieselgate and under constraint of governments, car makers are giving up diesel engines in their model line-ups. Across 2018 so far, diesel-powered vehicles amount less than a third of all registrations, while 3 years ago this was almost half.

See below the list of 2018’ diesel models axed from companies’ line-ups due to switch to other fuel sources:

  • Fiat 500X,
  • Honda CR-V,
  • Kia Rio,
  • Kia Venga,
  • Porsche Macan,
  • Porsche Paramera,
  • Seat Toledo,
  • Skoda Fabia,
  • Toyota Avensis (its replacement – Camry),
  • Toyota RAV4,
  • Toyota Verso,
  • Vauxhall Corsa.

Suzuki and Subaru also revised their model range for the European market: no diesel motors offered any more.

2019 Honda CR-V (EU)
2018 Kia Rio Sedan
2019 Skoda Fabia

Volvo will not introduce diesel versions after the V60 launch, so all cars from the S60 onwards will be petrol, electric or plug-in hybrid only.
