The iconic Cadillac Escalade will be subjected to large changes in 2020. It has been little modified since 2014, when its latest generation entered the market and gained popularity in the USA and some other countries.
Currently the carmaker is developing a new design of the model and should complete it by 2020. Spies have not succeeded in getting information about the car’s exterior.
But some media managed to find out the first details about the drivetrains to be used on the off-road vehicle.
Today the Cadillac Escalade is offered exclusively with a 6.2-liter 420-hp 8-cylinder engine with 623 Nm of torque. However, soon two more motors should be added to it.
One of them may be a 4.2-liter twin turbo V8 capable to output 500 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. This engine is mounted on the recently debuted CT6 model.
On the V-Sport variant the same powertrain can deliver 550 hp and 850 Nm of torque, which is much higher than the current base 6.2-liter V8 for the Escalade.
As for the third option, its characteristics are not yet known, but it is claimed to be a hybrid one.
