In March Tesla introduced a new feature on the Model 3. It is a security-oriented Sentry Mode for protection against break-ins and theft. How does it work?
Tesla applied an innovative security function, Sentry Mode, on the Model 3 at first. Now it is becoming available on the Model S and Model X cars.
If any threat of penetration into the vehicle is detected, Sentry Mode switches to an “Alert” state and displays a warning message on the touchscreen that informs that the 360 degree in-car cameras start recording.
In case of more serious threat (breaking a window, for example), Sentry Mode switches to “Alarm”. This function activates the car alarm, increases the center display brightness and plays music at maximum volume from the car’s audio system.
Recently Sentry Mode filmed a strange woman scratching a Tesla Model 3’s outside with her keys. And, what is interesting, she was arrested and charged with vandalism then.
So, we should expect more and more videos on the Internet, comedic ones as well as not funny at all, recorded by the Sentry Mode cameras on Tesla cars.
