Meantime, Tesla Inc. has agreed to acquire German ATW Automation, a battery assembler. This company is located in western Germany, has about 120 employees, and completed more than 20 battery production lines for international automakers.
Tesla, as we know, aims to ramp up battery production and sharply cut the cost of battery packs within the next three years. The light duty Cybertruck and the Semi truck which Tesla plans to launch, need higher battery capacities.
Currently the automaker is building the facility near Berlin, and will begin construction in Texas this year.
