The Tesla Model 3 beat the Porsche Taycan Turbo in a 500-km (311-mi) endurance race.
The electric car race “Ignitis ON: get to know Lithuania!” has recently taken place in Druskininkai, Lithuania. The Tesla Model 3 finished first with the result of 5 hours 46 minutes and 7 seconds.
Its rival, the Porsche Taycan Turbo, covered 311 miles in 5 hours 47 minutes and 14 seconds. Both participated in that endurance race for the first time.
We remind that EPA estimates the Porsche Taycan Turbo’s driving range at 323.5 km (201 miles), while the Model 3 Long Range’s EPA figure is 518 km (322 miles).
The team behind the Model 3 stopped once to charge the battery. Fast-charging took 29 minutes.
The team behind the Porsche Taycan Turbo did not inform how many stops they needed to charge the car during that race.
A one minute lead is a good result for the Model 3, given that its most expensive version costs about a third of the price of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
Moreover, Tesla has vehicles with a longer range, like the Model S Long Range Plus recently rated at 402 miles by EPA.
