A new electric sedan called Leapmotor C01 has debuted this month in China, and it is now available for pre-order in that country.
In terms of design, performance, technology, and price, the recently unveiled Leapmotor C01 is a competitive offering. Thus, the Tesla Model 3 beloved by many people gets a worthy competitor, however, not in its homeland, but in Europe and China.
Size
The Leapmotor C01 uses a world-first CTC (Cell-to-Chassis) technology integrating a battery module into the vehicle body. The car is 198.8 in long, 74.8 in wide, 59.4 in tall (5,050 x 1,902 x 1,509 mm). Its wheelbase is 115.3 inches or 2,930 millimeters.
Range
It offers 5 versions: 500 Standard Battery, 606 Long Battery, 717 Ultra-Long Battery, 630Pro, and 630Pro+. The numbers denote the range in kilometers according to the CLTC test used in China. So, the model’s driving range is from 311 miles to 446 miles. The range is provided by a 90-kWh battery.
It should be taken into account that CLTC estimates are mostly higher than range figures according to WLTP (European test) and EPA (US test). EPA estimates are around 11% lower than WLTP.
Performance
The Leapmotor C01 is available in single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive layouts, its powertrain produces up to 544 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque. The car needs just 3.66 seconds to accelerate from zero to 60 mph, but its top speed is only 135 km (84 mi).
Interior
The C01’s interior features triple screens, Nappa leather upholstery, and a 12-speaker Hi-Fi 3D audio system. The Qualcomm 8155P processor powers the screens. They support FLYTEK’s 3.5-gen voice recognition and industry-first FACE ID face recognition. Moreover, the vehicle comes with 28 high-precision sensors and 23 autonomous driving features.
Price
The Leapmotor C01 costs between CNY 180,000 and CNY 270,000 (roughly USD 27,000 – 40,600) after a “comprehensive subsidy”.
Compared to the Chinese electric sedan, the Tesla Model 3 RWD has a range of 267 miles, gains a top speed of 140 mph, and speeds up from 0 to 60 mph within 5.8 seconds. The starting price is $39,640.
Dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants cost from $48,640 (Model 3 Long Range) and $55,640 (Model 3 Performance), all prices are with potential savings.
The Long Range Model boasts 334 mi (range), 145 mph (top speed), and 4.2.sec (acceleration), while the Performance model’s figures are 315 mi, 162 mph, and 3.1 sec. The Model 3’s power is up to 450 hp.
