Tesla Drops Entry-Level Model Y

Tesla stops taking orders for the base Model Y Standard Range.

This trim had been available only for a few weeks.

Such a decision looks a bit inconsistent, given Tesla cut the Model Y’s starting price to $39,990 net just several days earlier to boost sales.

It is unclear now why Tesla dropped the entry trim level of the model, and if it is a temporary move or not.

Perhaps, the company has taken the pause to retool production and to deal with placed orders.

Tesla seeks to reduce the cost of its products for making them more affordable, and this is commendable.

At the same time, the company’s inconsistency in terms of specs and prices can confuse customers, and unlikely contribute to sales growth.
