Last week, Elon Musk told investors about intention to produce cheaper vehicles.
Tesla CEO hinted they would possibly offer a new affordable compact car, but didn’t explain in detail.
…it would be reasonable to assume that we would make a compact vehicle of some kind and probably a higher capacity vehicle of some kind…
… we want to make the cars as affordable as possible, and that’s what we’re trying to achieve.
Indeed, Tesla makes really good and innovative automobiles, but comparatively expensive. Earlier this month, the company dropped a cheaper Model Y due to its low range.
The company planned an entry-level Model 3 for mass audience for a long time, and financed this vehicle by the margins from the pricier Model Y and X. Now the Model 3 cost $37,990.
As for the mentioned new cheaper and smaller Tesla, according to some signs and earlier reports, we conclude it could be a hatchback for the European market. Perhaps, Tesla will design it in Germany and build at the new Gigafactory.
It is a vagueness so far, when and if it arrives. At least the model is talked about.
