Subaru Introduced Its First-ever Plug-in Hybrid Crossover

Subaru of America has introduced its first-ever plug-in hybrid vehicle. The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid combines all-wheel drive capability with advantages of hybrid driving. The model goes on sale in the end of this year.

The newcomer features unique exterior and interior styling and a new in-vehicle technology. The Crosstrek SUV takes the 3rd place in the North American market among bestsellers.

The price starts from $34,995 (plus delivery costs). For today, this PHEV is the most potent and efficient version of the Subaru’s versatile compact crossover (90 MPGe).

The new StarDrive Technology of the brand integrates two electric motors. The first functions as a starter generator, the second powers the vehicle for hybrid and electric driving modes.

The powertrain also includes a 2.0-liter direct-injection engine (Subaru Boxer), Linerartronic CVT, AWD and a high-capacity lithium-ion battery. The latter provides an electric range of 27 km (17 miles). The total driving range is 773 km (480 miles).

The hybrid Crosstrek accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) one second faster than the regular Crosstrek. The SUV got an electronically controlled brake system.

The vehicle features a new exterior color (Lagoon Blue Pearl), unique 18-inch wheels, LED fog lights. Inside there are contrast-colored leather seats, a leather steering wheel, blue stitching and accent panels.

The Crosstrek comes with an 8.0-inch STARLINK Multimedia Plus system and high-grade instrument panel. The list of standard driver assistance and safety functions is wide. It includes in particular LED High Beam Assist, Reverse Automatic Braking, Lane Change Assist, Cross Traffic Alert any many other up-to-date features.

The model also got an audible Pedestrian Alert System. New functions exclusive for the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid are Remote Climate Control and Remote Battery Charging Timer.

The STARLINK Concierge package is available and provides in-car assistance with restaurant and hotel reservations, purchasing tickets and scheduling service appointments.
