Following several requests from car enthusiasts, Blue Oval is now considering a new high-performance Ford F-150 street pickup designed for usage on the pavement of city streets.
It such a version ever arrives, and this is possible, Ford will be completely dominant in the segment of high-performance full-size trucks.
On the one hand, the automaker offers the F-150 Raptor and the hotter Raptor R for off-road conditions, plus the Tremor modification in SuperCrew configuration and with the newest off-road tech is coming this year. On the other hand, the F-150 in a street edition will satisfy city adventurers.
It’s easy to guess that the new street-performance Ford F-150 will have special on-pavement suspension tunings, big wheels with performance low-profile tires. As for the powertrain, expect to see Ford’s 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 producing 400 hp and 500 lb-ft on the 2021 F-150.
Prior to this possible newcomer, the company’s last real street-performance pickup was the SVT F-150 Lightning, which had two generations of 1993-1995 and 1999-2004. It was set in motion by 8-cylinder 5.8L and 5.4L engines with 240, 360, 380 hp, and 340, 440, 450 pound-feet of torque.
