Shortly before the world premiere of the new Skoda Kamiq GT, the Czech carmaker has released two design sketches of the model.
The Kamiq GT will be Skoda’s fifth SUV for the Chinese market, which is a key one for the brand.
It will debut on November 4, 2019 in Tianjin (China). The Kamiq GT joins the Skoda Kodiaq GT coupe crossover made exclusively for China.
The model translates the Skoda Vision GT concept car’s elegant sporty design into a production vehicle.
The sketches reveal a car with the pronounced front end and sloping roofline culminating in a rear spoiler.
The exterior is a result of a team work of SAIC Skoda (China) and Skoda Design (Czech Republic) designers. The Skoda Kamiq GT is aimed at young Chinese drivers.
Inside, the vehicle offers a mix of crossover looks and sporty dynamics. A horizontal decorative trim extends across the whole width. Customers will have a choice of materials, exclusive elements, sports seats.
The carmaker introduced the Skoda Kamiq for China at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show in April and launched it in June 2018.
The model sits below the Skoda Karoq in the compact SUV lineup. A single 1.5-liter 81-kW (110-hp) engine variant is offered with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The price for the regular Kamiq ranges from 109,900 to 130,900 yuan. The Chinese version is slightly larger than the international version.
The latter debuted in February at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Unlike the Chinese modification, it offers engine choices: 3- and 4-cylinder 1.0-, 1.5- and 1.6-liter TSI (petrol) and TDI (diesel) units with 95, 115, 150 hp.
