In a few months, the fully new Kia Seltos crossover should enter the US car market. Thus, the brand enters a new, highly competitive small SUV segment.
Recently, the Kia Seltos has been once again captured by an amateur camera on the streets of an American city. The SUV is shot without any camouflage, and we can confidently say the new product really looks very similar to the SP Signature Concept.
Thus, Kia enters at once two new segments of the US car market in 2019: the large SUV niche with the Telluride debuted in spring and the small SUV segment with the Seltos.
The latter, although not yet officially presented, will let try the hand at one of the most competitive market segments where the model challenges to such rivals as the Mazda CX-3, Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR.
The popularity of small SUVs is growing in almost all world markets, including the USA.
As for the Hyundai Kona, which is roughly commensurate with the Kia Seltos, the Seltos and Kona are as different in terms of design as the Telluride and Palisade.
Seltos is expected to sit below the Sportage ($23,990). There are also the Soul (from $17,490) and the Niro ($23,490) in the lineup, but they have their own specifics.
The first is not quite a crossover, but the second is a pure hybrid and fits only a certain part of customers. The Niro is not cheap, by the way.
It looks like the Kia Seltos has good chances. However, it is worth waiting for the official presentation of the model in order to evaluate not only its design, but the technical aspect and, of course, its price list.
