The new generation Toyota Corolla has entered the European market. The first to purchase the new car will be the UK customers. The automaker has already announced the prices and configurations.
Toyota will initially offer the twelfth-generation Corolla hatchback and wagon. These body styles are popular on the European continent.
The Toyota Corolla is the most popular model not only for the brand. Generally speaking, it is the best-selling passenger car on the planet for many years in a row.
Hybrid powertrain for the firm time
The 2019 Toyota Corolla is remarkable not only because it first received a wagon modification. It also ‘joined the club’ of green vehicles. The Corolla has got a version with a hybrid powertrain.
Two such modifications will be available in Europe. The first has the same system as the latest Prius. This is the powertrain with a 1.8-liter petrol/gasoline four-cylinder engine (specially designed for hybrids) and two small electric motors-generators. The total output reaches 121 hp. The claimed average fuel consumption is 5.7 liters.
The second variant of the hybrid Corolla will get a new powertrain with a 2.0-liter engine which develops 180 hp.
The Continuously Variable Transmission is used on both versions.
Naturally, apart from the hybrid, the regular petrol-powered Corolla with a 1.2-liter turbo motor will be available to buyers. The engine works in pair with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Configurations and prices
The entry level – Icon – includes 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED-lights, heated front seats, a Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system, a rear view camera.
The initial price starts from £21,300 (approximately 23,900 euro). The Toyota Corolla Hybrid will cost from £23,750 (26,650 euro).
Add that, a more familiar to us Corolla sedan will enter the European market at the beginning of 2019.
