Fewer configurations, easier production? The Rivian R1T and R1S order holders will be unlikely happy…
The Rivian R1T and R1S customers are being asked by the manufacturer in e-mails to either reconfigure or cancel their preorders. This is because Rivian discontinues the cheaper Explore trim level and leaves only one trim available – the more expensive Adventure.
So, those who pre-ordered Explore now have to switch to Adventure or cancel the reservation, otherwise, Rivian will remove the vehicle from the production order, according to Carbuzz
What’s the Reason for Such Changes?
Rivian explains that customers mostly have selected the Adventure trim, and few people preferred the Explorer trim. To speed up deliveries and streamline the supply chain, the company solves to focus on the version for which there is more demand.
Rivian can be understood: it must think about profit and optimization, but customers are not happy with this news.
On the official website, the Rivian R1T now starts at $73,000, while the Rivian R1S’s base price is $78,000.
