The Rivian R1T electric pickup will be packed with one useful feature.
This is about a Camp Kitchen in the model’s modifiable 11-ft3 side-access Gear Tunnel that is located behind the rear seats. The package is not cheap – it costs $5,000 but offers many pleasant and practical things.
The Camp Kitchen includes a 1440-watt 2-burner induction stovetop that draws power from the vehicle’s 135.0-kWh ‘large pack’ traction battery. Other parts are a collapsible sink with a spray faucet, a 4-gallon water tank, built-in drawers to place crockery and cutlery.
The Camp Kitchen consists of three main parts. Each of them fits onto a ‘shuttle system’ allowing the components to slide into and out of the R1T body. Rivian will also offer a $2,650 package that includes a tent for three persons mounted onto the top of the bed.
Deliveries of the Rivian R1T and R1S will begin next January.
