Restyled 2022 Ford Expedition Brings a Hot Version

The 2022 Ford Expedition has been unveiled in the USA. The model’s most off-road-capable-ever Timberline version joins the lineup.

The 2022 Ford Expedition stands out with athletic styling, a sport-tuned suspension, a high-output twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine that produces 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. The Expedition delivers 85 hp and 127 lb.-ft. more than the Chevrolet Tahoe RST, 48 hp and 106 lb.-ft. more than the Jeep Wagoneer.

Besides, the new Ford Expedition offers innovative driver-assist tech including Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system, and Ford Power-Ups software delivering vehicle enhancements through over-the-air updates.

With the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, the 2022 Expedition achieves a maximum towing capacity of 9,300 pounds. This is 900 pounds more than the Chevy Tahoe with a 5.3L V8 and 2WD tows.

For comparison: the recently unveiled new Toyota Tundra is capable of towing up to 12,000 pounds. The maximum payload capacity is 1,940 pounds.

For the 2022 Ford Expedition, a new Stealth Edition Performance Package is available that features design elements in black: a grille, lamp housing, skid plates, mirror caps, emblems and badging. It offers unique 22-inch premium black aluminum wheels with red brake calipers.

Ford Expedition Timberline

The all-new Ford Expedition Timberline elevates the model above the Jeep Wagoneer, as its ground clearance is the best-in-class – 10.6 inches versus the Wagoneer’s 10 inches. Moreover, Ford’s SUV weighs four percent less than Jeep’s model, and features a better power-to-weight ratio.

The Trail Turn Assist system – the same as on the Ford Bronco tightens the turning radius on hairpin trails. Also, this version comes with rugged 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler AT tires, a two-speed transfer case, and the F-150 Raptor’s underbody shielding.

Since the introduction of this generation Ford Expedition in 2017, the model has tripled its market share in the full-size SUV segment. Ford believes that after the mid-cycle refresh for the 2022 model year, the Expedition will attract more buyers.

Sales of the 2022 Ford Expedition will begin in the first quarter of next year.
