On Monday, June 29, at the annual shareholders’ meeting, Nissan has announced it will unveil a production-version Ariya electric crossover on July 15, 2020.
The all-electric SUV comes with the newest ProPilot 2.0 hands-off automated driving system and the brand’s new e-4ORCE all-wheel drive electric powertrain.
Nissan introduced the ProPilot 2.0 in 2019 in Japan. This tech allows hands-free automatic navigation on the highway from on- to off-ramp. More than 20 models in 20 markets worldwide will receive it.
The manufacturer plans to build Ariyas at the Tochigi assembly plant, which Nissan is converting to a production site for electric vehicles.
The model is designed to be the face of the company for the new e-mobility era.
The vehicle will be first marketed in Japan. Then it reaches other markets: the USA, Europe, China.
According to Nissan’s mid-term plan, it will reveal 8 pure electric cars, as well as 12 new global models in the next 1.5 years.
