The Italian manufacturer has announced a date where its first electrified vehicle in production form, namely the Alfa Romeo Tonale all-wheel-drive, plug-in hybrid crossover, makes its global debut dubbed “La Metamorfosi”. It’ll happen on February 8, 2022, at 9 a.m. EST or 3:00 p.m. CET at the brand’s official website.
The new model will join the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV. The carmaker previewed the Tonale concept in spring 2019, and finally, albeit with a delay, it’s time for the production version to arrive.
The Tonale’s powertrain will comprise of an electric motor that powers the rear wheels, and a combustion engine driving the front wheels. The estimated total power of the system is 240 hp.
As for the dimensions, expect the vehicle to be 178.2 inches long, 72.2 inches wide, and 63.1 inches tall, and have a 103.7-inch wheelbase, 20-inch wheels, four trim levels including a limited-run Speciale.
The series production should begin in Italy this spring (assumedly in late March) at the Pomigliano d’Arco plant. The model will be available in North America.
