Pre-sales of the new 2020 Volkswagen Passat have begun in some European countries. The car got exterior and technical updates. Prices start from €34,720.
The 2020 Volkswagen Passat enters the European market. The best-selling model has become more digital, comfortable, safe and better connected.
What is new?
The refreshed Passat features a new-generation infotainment MIB3 system, new safety assist functions, an upgraded running gear and drive systems.
The available configurations are: basic “Passat”, mid-range “Business”, top “Elegance”. Customers can order the last two with the R-Line customization.
Separate versions – “Alltrack” (off-road, AWD) and “GTE” (plug-in hybrid drive) are offered as well.
There are 5 engines on the list: 2 gasoline (petrol) TSI (187hp and 268hp) and 3 diesel TDIs (118-, 187-, 237hp), all meet the Euro 6d-TEMP standard requirements.
The new VW Passat GTE (215hp) and 2.0 TDI Evo (148hp, lowered CO2 emissions) will be available to order soon. The first now has a larger electric-only driving range: 55km (wagon), 57km (sedan) according to the WLTP cycle.
The expanded list of the stardard equipment includes: LED optics, infotainment systems with an integrated SIM card, We Connect (online services), Front Assist (area monitoring system), an adaptive cruise control, Lane Assist.
An adaptive chassis control system, interactive “IQ.LIGHT – LED matrix headlights” and Travel Assist (a partially automated driving mode) are optional.
The sedan with a 187-hp TSI engine starts at €38,750 in Germany, and at €39,825 for the wagon. The sedan with a 118-hp TDI costs from €34,720, the wagon is priced at €35,825 for the base model.
